Skaneateles Village Hall

26 Fennell St.

Skaneateles 13152

Facilities: Geothermal, Solar, Municipal, Charging Station, Water Management System

The Skaneateles Village Hall was constructed by repurposing (2013) the main village fire station, and incorporates state of the art features so that it is considered to be “net zero” and one of the “greenest” municipal buildings in New York State.

The Village Hall now features geothermal heating and cooling, and an advanced solar system consisting of 216 panels on the roof of the building.  The building has incorporated many energy saving methods including: LED lighting, solar tubes, thermal windows and doors, and a water-to-water heat pump for domestic water heating.

Most recently, in the fall of 2015, a pedestrian promenade was built, which includes permeable pavement, native plants, no-mow groundcover, and a bio-retention stormwater management system. There are also three electric car-charging stations within the Village Hall parking lot.

Visitors have access to a live-time display illustrating the facility’s energy usage, and at Explore Our Energy Future, a tour of the features that make the new Village Hall a candidate for LEED Gold certification.
