Yesterday (April 16th, 2016), the Rosmond Gifford Zoo in partnership with GreeningUSA’s Sustainability Academy hosted their Annual Party for the Planet Celebration.
The CCAA was invited to table during the event alongside other educational and environmental groups around syracuse. The lineup included:
With beautiful sunny weather hitting a high of 70 degrees Fahrenheit by noon, the zoo attendance hit a record of 5008 visitors! The CCAA greatly appreciates this opportunity and had a wonderful time. Mitch and Yvonne (tabling members of the CCAA) greatly enjoyed their time and were pleasantly surprised at how knowledgeable the young zoo visitors were.
Many visitors came to the table and played 2 Truths and a Myth which covered common myths about Geothermal, Wind, and Solar power. The CCAA also gave out activity sheets containing a maze, word search, and coloring pages, as well as pinwheels made of reused paper! Some bonuses for the adults were sheets containing Action Steps and an informative flyer about our upcoming event: Explore Our Energy Future.
Overall, Party for the Planet was a successful event. Not to mention the wonderful view of the flamingos and apes from our table! It could not have been a better saturday. Don’t forget: Every day is Earth Day, do your part!
